Past Events…A Sampling

In addition to participating in local events, we’ve hosted several events of our own that highlight history, architecture, and incredible residents!

On Friday, August 8, 2025 we hosted a decades party featuring Flossmoor resident history makers, including Muhammed Ali, Buddy Guy, Dick Duchossois, Jossie Harris Thacker, and Eugene Parker.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024 we hosted a progressive tour of three 100-year-old homes featuring a live artist exhibit, themed food and beverages, and more history of the Village of Flossmoor.

On Sunday, August 11, 2024 we hosted the biggest block party in Flossmoor to celebrate Flossmoor Park’s 100-year anniversary. Friends gathered to take a walking tour of 100-year old homes, create crafts in the style of the Flossmoor Community Church Community House artist and former resident, Fred Vanderwalker, share what they love about Flossmoor, and connect with neighbors.

You can view the map online and take a self-guided walking tour of the first 9 homes built in Flossmoor Park.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024 we hosted a tour of the Wagner building. Flossmoor Station Restaurant owners Carolyn and Dean Armstrong hosted a reception to celebrate 100 years of Flossmoor history and raise funds for the renovation of our future home, the Wagner Building.

The station was originally constructed in 1912 and served as a full-service station for early commuters and visitors. It was later converted into a mall and in 1996 the Armstrong’s turned it into the Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery. Included in the display was an original 1910 set of blueprints of the Flossmoor train station.
